When I pre-purchased the Grasshopper ala carte for Resistance 1 - I was eligible for the early adopter rewards.

But why for Resistance 2 - no early adopter rewards for ala pre-purchase ala carte?

Side Note: I am only interested in purchasing the Mauler from this package.

1:they want to get as much money as possible

2:literally anyone smart is only interested in the mauler and they want you to buy the package.

Still, denying pre-purchase awards to a la carte buyers is disappointing to put it politely.

I find it hilarious that they implemented al a carte for the sole purpose of giving people a means to pay for the things they want, but now if you do that, your money's somehow worth less in their eyes.

Perhaps if this is brought up to Russ over twitter, he'll realize they're leaving money on the table again, and come to his senses.

Two options.

A: They got much less then projected on the last pack

B: Some misscommunication between market and web person.

And for the bonus round... C: They want to see how many complain about it as it is a eays fix to do if a shitstorm brews.

Any way... how about you poke Russ and ask him...

I highly recommend we talk to Russ on twitter. I don't see anyone that is a fan of this new practice and we need to let them know. I know I'm not happy about it.

I just sent a tweet, though it's not my comfort zone...
I'll say in here, I agree there should be some of the incentives for a la carte buyers. Even other rewards like warhorns...
In the end, sure, give more to bigger buyers to keep motivation there, but at least lean that way a little with smaller purchases.
For me, I'm not buying packs because I can't wait for the cbill release. I'm the mechs I like, because I like them, and I get bonuses like premium time, mech bays, etc too.

Same as others here, I only think the mauler is interesting, but I'm not paying a la carte when I really don't get anything. Why pay cash if you don't throw in a few perks? You're asking me to pay for a product I can't try.

Probably because they know that no one will by the 3 sets of identical laser vomit Mechs.

Seriously, have you looked at how "different" the hardpoints are on the Wolfhound, Crab, and Black Knight? They're clearly planning to differentiate those Mechs via quirks, because they're basically all the same as it stands.

I'm not willing to buy a product that:

a) isn't well-defined to begin with, and

B) is dependent on a characteristic that PGI controls and has proven perfectly willing to change radically in order to be distinct.

Remember, you have to unlock Basics on 3 of the 4 in each chassis in order to get any of them Mastered. And as things stand right now, all 4 of them are pretty much identical. They've taken one of the more hated aspects of progression and made it worse for 3 of the 4 chassis that they want to sell.

I suspect a lot of people would just a-la-carte the Mauler and call it a day, so they're doing this to try to convince those people to go ahead and buy the package instead. Costs you $25 to get the bonus goodies. Which is still a good deal, as those goodies are worth at least $30 just for the Premium time, but it's pretty low of them to do it.

It might be the last straw for me. I have a month to decide if I still like playing MWO enough to keep going, or if I should just get a refund on my Wave III pre-order and call it quits. Very few of my online friends play anymore, anyway.

Yeah i really wish i could get the 4th variant for the Mauler, i ordered on the very first day but now i'll have to wait 4 extra months for the last variant. I would order the whole package but i don't like having mechs i can't sell off if i don't like them. (looking at you phoenix locust)

They should offer all the same benefits including the extra variant.

Tell PGI that over twitter. Maybe make a reddit thread about it, while you're at it. Those are the only two ways to get PGI's attention.

I tweeted... I suck at fitting a thought into 140 characters... someone else try.

And while I see that they wouldn't want to give the big rewards to people who only buy the Mauler a la carte, their other choice is to just get no cash at all.
The other mechs are not interesting to me at all, so I'm not buying them. And if the a la carte Mauler is just real cash purchase for early access, I'm not buying it.
If they keep the bigger rewards for bigger packages, people will still have reason to buy them.

Oh!

There are two kinds of bonuses.

Standard bonuses that come with a package

and

early adopter bonus.

I certainly did not know that ala carte qualified for early adopter bonuses.

as for this package, I am only considering mauler ala carte. if there were some bonuses to go with it, that would cause me to commit. If not, no reason not to wait until the mech is out, quirks declared, hit boxes settled, then spend 35 for three mechs with one as hero.

PGI will have to balance cases like mine and those that would downgrade the $80 package for ala carte.
